IT SPECIALIST
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: On-site, Annapolis, MD
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Compensation Range: $55,000 - $65,000 annually
Position Overview
Maryland Hall is seeking a skilled and collaborative IT Specialist to support our staff and information systems as we grow and modernize our technology infrastructure. This full-time role offers the opportunity to shape how a beloved arts institution leverages technology; from day-to-day help desk support to leading the implementation of a new enterprise CRM platform. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, a problem-solving mindset, and genuine enthusiasm for working within a mission-driven organization.
The role is eligible for one (1) remote workday per week, after the initial 90 day probationary period. There is a possibility for on-call hours.
Key Responsibilities
Application Administration & Database Management
- Proficiency with CRM or ticketing platforms (for example Tessitura, Neon One, or Arts People).
- Lead the implementation of Tessitura in 2026, serving as primary project manager and transitioning into the role of lead administrator and power user following the go-live date.
- Manage and support post-implementation needs in Tessitura across classes, donor management, grants, memberships, and ticketing.
- Provide troubleshooting and support for legacy CRM and Ticketing systems during the transition to Tessitura as needed.
- Provide basic web content management and website administration support, and front-end development, including updates related to work outlined in this job description.
User Technical Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for staff technical support, addressing application-related issues and essential hardware and software needs.
- Maintain a helpdesk-style ticketing system via Asana to track, log, and analyze support requests and time allocation.
- Prioritize and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise; proactively recommend improvements and efficiencies.
- Onboard and train staff members on newly adopted and emerging technologies.
IT Infrastructure & Needs
- Maintain and administer Maryland Hall’s network systems and infrastructure.
- Uphold and enforce cybersecurity, information security, and technology best practices organization wide.
- Create and maintain documented technical processes and procedures to ensure efficiency, consistency and security across the organization.
- Provide technical support for events hosted at Maryland Hall, including ensuring point-of-sale connectivity and Wi-Fi access for indoor and outdoor large-scale events.
- Provide technical onboarding and offboarding, covering both application access and hardware/systems setup.
- Track and manage software licenses, subscriptions, and renewals to ensure continuity and cost awareness.
- Maintain a detailed physical inventory of hardware, documenting condition, operational status, lifecycle stage, and staff assignments.
- Identify and evaluate additional technology opportunities that could benefit Maryland Hall’s operations.
- Troubleshoot, repair, or coordinate repair of technology, computers, and equipment as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Demonstrated experience administering networks, hardware, and software in a multi-user environment.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices, including user access management and data protection.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair computers, peripherals, and AV/event technology.
Soft Skills & Work Style
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts clearly for non-technical staff.
- Patient, approachable teaching style when supporting colleagues through new technology adoption.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Proactive problem-solver who surfaces issues and recommends solutions without waiting to be asked.
- Genuine interest in or affinity for the arts, culture, or nonprofit sector is a plus.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in an IT support, systems administration, or related role.
- Project management experience, particularly around the planning phase to implementation or migrations of software.
- Experience working in a nonprofit, arts, education, or similarly mission-driven environment is highly valued.
