The Chesapeake Arts Center’s Arts Administrative Coordinator is the first point of contact between the Education Department and customers, and must uphold high standards of excellence in customer service and support of CAC’s programs and services. The Education Coordinator helps manage various arts education programing throughout the year which serves hundreds students of all ages. Title: Arts Administrative Coordinator
Reports to: Education Director
Experience/Skills Required:
● Minimum 1-2 years of experience in arts education program management
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
● Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner
● Experience working with children
● Strong computer skills: knowledge of Google Drive and other standard business technology is required.
● Eager to work in a fast-paced, arts and education-focused environment
● Bilingual – Spanish/English is preferred
● Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously and meet deadlines on a consistent schedule
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
● Work in an office environment.
● Frequently sitting and standing for long periods of time
● May require occasional standing, cleaning, organizing, walking, lifting, and bending
● Flexible schedule and willingness to work daytime hours as well as some weekends/evenings
● Must have a valid driver license & transportation
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Manage student registrations, rosters, and payment through Canvas software system
● Manage the educational portion of the CAC website, including input of classes and subscriptions in the
Canvas software system, and ensuring all information on the website is correct and up-to-date
● Regularly communicate with students with class information, changes in schedule, etc
● Coordinate with instructors about enrollment of students, programs, and schedules; Assist instructors
with finding substitutes, as needed.
● Create/collect class evaluations and course surveys
● Coordinate after-school programs and other outreach programs, including recruitment; communication
with schools, instructors, and families; provide on-site support to ensure smooth education program
operations and provide instructor assistance
● Coordinate summer camp program, ensuring student paperwork is complete and instructors are
prepared; communicate with students and families regarding the program; provide on-site support to
ensure smooth camp operations and provide instructor assistance, as needed
● Offer administrative support, as needed, to the department chairs and MakerSpace
● Provide administrative support including answering phones, managing daily business data, confirming
schedules with students and teachers, and directing CAC visitors
● Manage supply purchasing and organization for all classes, workshops, and camps
● Manage the CAC google calendar with updated class schedules/ open studio
● Assist instructors with setup of classes, and clean/organize classrooms as necessary
● Assist with Educational productions and events including dance recitals, theatre shows, and gallery
shows
● Assisting with classes/workshops/camps, as needed
● Assisting the Education Director with overall programming, class and workshop creation
● Be stationed at the front desk to answer the door and phone
● Be stationed at the front desk to answer any patron questions and ring up ceramics and any other sales

Hours, Benefits & Compensation:
Full-time, exempt employee
Typical schedule for various semesters is below, hours may vary based on programming and
event needs.
● Monday-Thursday 1pm-9pm, Friday 10am-6pm
This is an in-person position; however, the Education Coordinator can work remotely on Fridays unless
otherwise specified.
