Maryland Hall is pleased to welcome bestselling author and humorist David Sedaris this summer as part of our Maryland Hall Presents season. Sedaris will appear live in Annapolis on Friday, August 7 at 7:30 PM for an evening of storytelling and readings, along with extensive book signings before and after the show.
Widely regarded as one of America’s most beloved and sharply observant writers, Sedaris has captivated audiences around the world through his signature blend of satire, wit, and deeply personal storytelling. Known for transforming everyday moments, family dynamics, and cultural observations into unforgettable essays, Sedaris has become one of the defining literary voices of his generation.
Sedaris is the author of numerous New York Times bestselling books, including Barrel Fever, Holidays on Ice, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, Calypso, and Happy-Go-Lucky. The audiobook edition of Happy-Go-Lucky, written and narrated by Sedaris, received the 2023 Audie Award.
His collection The Best of Me features 42 previously published essays and stories spanning his celebrated career. Sedaris is also the author of Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary, a darkly funny collection of fables illustrated by Ian Falconer. His newest essay collection, The Land and Its People, will be released by Back Bay Books on May 26, 2026.
