Prakriti Dance

  • About the Artist:

Prakriti Dance is an innovative performing company that showcases the Indian classical dance form Bharata Natyam. Founded by Co-Artistic Directors Kasi Aysola and Madhvi Venkatesh, Prakriti Dance uses ancient movement vocabulary and interprets modern day themes, bringing relevance and context to the ever evolving Indian art. Drawing inspirations from nature, philosophy, poetry, and other genres of art, Prakriti Dance weaves a multi-layered tapestry to transcend cultural boundaries and communicate the human experience. The company promotes collaboration between young artists to explore the arts of the Indian diaspora in America and has performed at festivals and venues such as the Atlas INTERSECTIONS Festival (DC), Dance Place (DC), VelocityDC Dance Festival (DC), Drive East (NY), and Spring to Dance (MI), as well as many schools, camps, and libraries throughout the Baltimore-DC metropolitan area.
