Annapolis’ Arts & Entertainment District runs along West Street from Calvert Street to include parts of Spa Road. From the Stanton Center to Maryland Hall, our A&E district hosts an array of entertainment venues, galleries, restaurants, theaters, and resident artists and musicians. Visit the Arts District website for information on what’s happening and new in the area.

The benefits offered to designated districts include:

  • Property tax credits for new construction or renovation of certain buildings.
  • Live-work spaces for artists and arts and entertainment enterprises.
  • Income tax subtraction modifications for income derived from artistic work sold by “qualifying residing artists.”
  • An exemption from the Admissions and Amusement tax levied by an “arts and entertainment enterprise” or “qualifying residing artist” in a district Arts and Entertainment Districts will further the goals of Smart Growth by locating within a Priority Funding Area, and by carefully coordinating with local plans and policies for economic development.
