  • About the Artist:

    Mark Jaster’s diverse skills as actor, musician, dancer, and mime, his experience in children’s theater, his solid classical training under this century’s living masters of mime, and his own fertile, off-beat imagination have made his solo shows a popular success with all ages. Mark offers workshops, performances, and entire plays in mime and has been entertaining people of all ages in this country and abroad since the early 1970s. Jaster studied mime with Etienne Decroux, the celebrated teacher of Marcel Marceau, and has served as Mr. Marceau’s teaching assistant. He has appeared at the Kennedy Center, The White House, the National Cathedral, Wolf Trap, and the Maryland Renaissance Festival. He is an Artistic Co-Director, Deviser, and Performer of Happenstance Theater.

      Description:

      A NEW family-friendly interactive clowning performance featuring the foolish and musical misuse of tools. A folding rule becomes a shark (among other things), a saw makes lyrical melodies, and a drop cloth creates characters requested by the audience.

      Mark Jaster, known for his kinetic humor, playful interaction, musical wit, and inventive imagination, brings over 30 years’ experience performing for school assemblies and a vast array of other audiences, from The Maryland Renaissance Festival to Regional Parks and Libraries.

      Description:

      A wordless clownish character engages the audience with skillful movement, live music, and prolific participation. A delightful, popular introduction to the art of mime.

    • A Fool Named "O"

      Description:

      Developed and featured at the Maryland Renaissance Festival since 1986, “O” is a wordless jester who plays unusual instruments and non-instruments and uses other simple props to beguile, involve, and entertain in a medieval manner.
      Best for grades 6+
