L’Ecole de Danse & Barbara Winner

  • About the Artist:

Barbara Winner has taught classical ballet and creative movement in the Annapolis area since January of 1977, initially teaching for the Annapolis Recreation Department. When Maryland Hall opened in 1980, she was accepted as an Independent Contractor, teaching classical ballet and creative movement. In the Fall of 1995, she moved to her own studio space in the Gardner Center on Forest Drive. Each spring since 1980, she has presented ballet performances featuring the talents of her students at either Maryland Hall, St. John's College, or Anne Arundel Community College.

She participated in Oakwood Elementary School's Career Day, under the direction of Carolyn Hall in 2017, 2018, and 2019, presenting a Dance Workshop for Kindergarten and First Grade students.

In 2022 and 2023, she received Independent Artist Grants from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County in the amount of $2,500 each. These grants helped her to continue teaching after the severe economic impact of COVID.
