I’m Sophie Benmouyal, and honestly, I’ve always had this feeling that children’s stories carry a sort of quiet magic, kind of, like it just sits there. A simple idea can turn into something that comforts, teaches, or even lingers with a child for years. That’s one of the reasons I’ve really leaned into children’s book publishing in Canada, and also the behind the scenes creative work that makes it happen. I like figuring out how a story gets shaped, refined, and finally brought into the world in a way that feels true and meaningful for young readers, and for the people writing it, too.
