Jo Fleming Contemporary Art Celebrates spring with “April Showers…” a botanical show by 4 regional artists.  Camilla Schwarz aspires to paint the feeling of the moment in nature and light. This work is loose and abstracted but the lines, shapes, and colors are reminiscent of the English garden.  Carol Rubin presents tangles of brushwork rooted in abstract expressionism and defines large unwieldy arrangements of flowers and landscape. Barbara Miller takes the approach of organizing tight but varied bouquets of highly realistic upscaled spring flowers floating in a field of strong color. Our 4th artist, Beckie Laughlin barely references natural forms. She captures the energy and movement of nature with intuitive gestures.

The exhibition runs from April 3rd – May 14. An artist reception will take place Sunday afternoon, April 14 from 4-6 pm. All are welcome. The gallery will be open 10:00-5:00 on May 1st while you can also enjoy the spectacular spring flower baskets on show throughout downtown Annapolis.
