Bay Winds Band

The Bay Winds Band is a community-focused wind band, based in Annapolis, MD. Our Mission serves a dual purpose. The first is to bring live concert band music to community venues of all shapes and sizes, from park settings over the summer to retirement facilities for our community’s less-mobile seniors. The second is to provide playing opportunities and challenges for a broad collection of musicians in our community. We do not require auditions and strive to involve those who wish to share their instrumental talent through performance. Our musicians represent all walks of life, from High School or Homeschooled students to former Military musicians, all the way up to nonagenarians who have played with the band for decades. For many years, we have been proud to bring the joy of live music to our community through free, accessible concerts, enriching Annapolis’s cultural landscape. The band was established in October, 1980, and currently numbers between 50 and 60 musicians. We have all levels of musical experience and range in age from teenagers to senior citizens. Our repertoire includes a mixture of marches, classical transcriptions, music from theater and motion pictures, big band jazz, Dixieland jazz, and challenging contemporary music.
