  • About the Artist:

    Gayle Mangan Kassal is an award-winning Maryland artist who captures the vibrancy and exuberance of life’s experiences in her work. Her art communicates a passion for brilliant colors and dedication to realistic detail. Gayle’s work embraces life in a single moment bursting into immense proportions, transforming ordinary spaces into vibrant new whimsical worlds.

    Kassal achieved a Master of Fine Arts, from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's College of Visual and Performing Arts. As an adjunct art professor, she instructed at UMASS Dartmouth and Salve Regina University before moving to Annapolis, Maryland where she began teaching at Anne Arundel Community College in 2003. She currently teaches all grades throughout the Anne Arundel County school system as a visiting muralist.

      Gayle Mangan Kassal will spark creativity in her engaging and inspiring lectures, residencies, and professional development workshops. Her lively keynote presentation brings smiles to many as she introduces the students to a brief history of murals and her own mural process. Gayle’s residencies and workshops provide an experience of the visual art standards of creating and connecting. Each project is custom-designed to meet the school’s desires and needs. Students and educators may explore ideas, develop concepts, design sketches, and collaborate hands-on to paint a mural they will cherish for years to come. Students feel a sense of belonging, pride, and ownership to their collaborative efforts joining as a community for a unified project.

      Appropriate Grade Levels:
      K - 12, and can be modified to fit any age

      Program Costs:

      Program costs vary and are site-specific. Many factors come into play planning a quote; mural size, location, student numbers, number of classes, length of each class, material costs above what I provide and total weeks in program session.

      Travel requirements or restrictions:

      I live in Annapolis and am a mother of two children, one still in elementary school.
      Early morning residencies before 8:30 am or after 3 pm may be possible, however will require advanced planning.
