LIVE. LECTURE and DEMONSTRATION :
DATE: NOVEMBER 8, 2026. 3 PM EST. In-person
PLACE: Michael Bush Library. 3000 West Street. Annapolis MD
As the two dominant mainstream artistic systems of the East and the West, Chinese painting and oil painting each possess distinct characteristics, profound artistic heights, and complementary qualities that together exemplify the principle of shared beauty. Grounded in the perspective of mutual learning between Eastern and Western artistic civilizations, this lecture compares the core differences and unique artistic strengths of Chinese painting and Western oil painting across aesthetic philosophies, creative mindsets, brushwork and color, perspective and composition, material techniques, and artistic mood expression. The highlights of East and Western Art Forms will be explained.
The lecture and demonstration show that these two art forms are not opposing forces, but avenues for mutual learning, integration, and coexistence.
The program presented by World Artists Experiences in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China is free of charge. Donations are welcome. For Further information, email wae@comcast.net
