Whether you’re a casual movie-goer or a die-hard cinephile\, this event is for you! \nWHAT TO EXPECT\nCurated by our resident film nerds:. Think surrealist masterpieces\, haunting silent films with live musical accompaniment\, and underground treasures that challenge perspectives and expand minds. \nOf course\, no proper film night is complete without popcorn and sips to fuel the experience and discussions. \nSeptember Screening: A Ghost Story\nThis October\, join us at AND Gallery for a screening of A Ghost Story (2017) — a haunting\, meditative film about love\, loss\, and the passage of time\, playing out beneath a sheet-draped ghost who lingers in the house he once called home. \nAbout the film:\nWritten and directed by David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints\, Pete’s Dragon)\, A Ghost Story stars Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara as a couple whose quiet suburban life is upended when he dies suddenly\, only to return to their home as a ghost — draped in the simplest costume imaginable\, a white sheet with two eyeholes cut out. Unstuck in time\, he’s forced to watch as the life he knew and the woman he loves slowly slip away. Far from a conventional horror tale\, this is a slow\, poetic meditation on grief\, memory\, and what — if anything — remains of us after we’re gone. \nWhy it fits the gallery:\nWe’re timing this screening to run alongside our Folklore & Folktales exhibit\, so you can wander the gallery and take in the show before (or after) settling into the film.
