Vibrant colors and lively subjects characterize Olin Yoder’s work. “I never paint the same painting twice,” says Olin who loves repetition of form and the shapes of shadows. An extensive traveler, who has been inspired by people, commerce, and nature, he has always believed that art teachers should also be artists.

Currently on display at the Arundel Center is a one-man exhibition featuring the oil paintings of Anne Arundel County artist Olin Yoder.  At a recent reception for the artist, County Executive Steve Schuh honored Yoder with a citation for his contributions to art and culture. The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County (ACAAC) sponsored the exhibition.

Born in Garrett County, Yoder received a Bachelors degree from Shepherd College in West Virginia and a Masters of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Arts in Baltimore.

Recipient of the 2001 Annie Award from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County for his contributions in the field of Arts Education, Yoder taught in county middle schools and high schools for over 40 years followed by a post as an adjunct faculty member at Catonsville Community College. Yoder was named A.A. County teacher of the year in 1990. Yoder ‘s work has been included in a number of recent exhibits at BWI Airport sponsored by ACAAC.
