An Arts Grant can help your organization reach new audiences in Anne Arundel County.  The deadline is April 15th.  A mini grant is one type of grant funded by the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County.

A $2,500 Mini Grant awarded for fiscal year 2016 to the Performing Arts Center for African Culture (PACAC) in Laurel has helped to fund drumming, dance, game and storytelling workshops.

The Mini Grant program was designed to provide matching funds to community based organizations that can enable them to produce targeted arts activities and reach underserved audiences.

PACAC grants provide funds for programs that focus on authentic African music, rhythms, dances of antiquity and storytelling.   Giving students the opportunity to experience the interpretation of rhythmic patterns and movements is just one of the benefits of a PACAC Community Drum Circle Event.

FY2017 General Operating, Founding and Mini Grants  are submitted between March 15,–April 15, 2016.   The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County (ACAAC) is a on-profit umbrella organization supporting the arts and historic restoration in Anne Arundel County. ACAAC provides grants and support to over forty nonprofit organizations, providing a resource for the cultural arts community through advocacy, funding, programming, and promotions. Art Exhibit Opportunity

“ Moments in Time ” is the theme and title of the upcoming summer/fall exhibit sponsored by the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County. The deadline for artists to submit up to three works via the digital portal on the Arts Council website acaac.org for consideration is November 23rd.
The juried group show is open to all Anne Arundel County residents over the age of eighteen. In order to submit work for consideration there is a $ 20 entry/administrative fee. Submissions must be received by November 23rdArtists are asked to submit work in a two dimensional medium that relates in same way to the exhibit’s theme, “Moments in Time.” Please check the Arts Council Website or call the office for further specific entry information.
Opening Decembere11, 2015 at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, the show will be on display between concourses C & D through April 15, 2016. The Arts Council exhibits are juried by a committee of three that include: Committee Chair Roberta Pardo, who studied industrial design in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and fine arts at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Wil Scott, a photographer and former Director of Adult Programs at the National Gallery of Art, Megan Barroll a corporate art consultant and arts appraiser with the Mid-Atlantic Arts Advisory group,, Amy Snyder and Martha Blaxall .
Accepted work will be available for view online and available for sale if desired by the exhibitor. The Arts Council commission fee is ten percent. Visit the Arts Council website at wwwacaac.org to learn more or call 410-222-7949.
The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County provides grants and support to over forty nonprofit organizations. Mural Contest

What do Leonardo da Vinci, Diego Rivera, and Michelangelo have in common? They were all muralists, committed to sharing their artistic vision with the community.  Murals provide the opportunity for artists to interact with their environment.  In the public debate, this past week has been the mural recently painted above Tsunami in Annapolis on West Street. It doesn’t matter which side you’re on, the debate has gotten people thinking and talking about art in public places. Opportunity knocks for aspiring muralists, with a contest and opportunity to paint a mural in the Annapolis Arts and Entertainment District. The winning artist will receive a $5000 prize in addition to expenses for materials. The deadline is coming up fast. Only one week is left before June 26th.

ENTRY DETAILS
The deadline for entries is June 26, 2015. Entries must be submitted on a small but accurately scaled and detailed preliminary illustration. You must include a budget of expenses that includes the artists cost for materials and design. The cost of the canvas and installation will be the responsibility of the Arts Council. Artist resume and images/locations of recent murals should also be included. Artist must sign a liability waiver to cover them while working at 47 Spa Road. Entries must be mailed or delivered with the entry form ( download by visiting the “exhibits” page under the “Artists” button on this website) and either sent electronically or delivered to the office of the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, 2666 Riva Road, Suite 150, Annapolis, MD 21401. Entries become the property of the Arts Council and cannot be returned. The winning entry will be selected by the Exhibit Committee of the Arts Council. Calling all artists who are residents of Anne Arundel County to submit your design for a temporary mural to be placed on a permanent structure, the east side wall of 47 Spa Road. Bring beauty and vitality to the Annapolis Arts and Entertainment district with a painted creation that will be approximately 60’ wide and 12’ high. The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County is sponsoring this competition and the June 26th deadline is almost here. So start sketching up an accurately scaled and detailed preliminary illustration. Come up with a budget that includes your cost for designing and materials. Carefully read the guidelines below and good luck. Remember, in order to be selected you need to enter the competition.

RUBYS =Grants for Artists

In 2014 Carla Brown from Catonsville received a Ruby Grant to help fund the making of a  documentary film about her grandparents, Everyone But Two: The Life, Love and Travel of Benjamin and Frances Graham, which traces the cross-country travel experiences of an African American couple in the 1960s and 1970s.

Artists and writers are you eligible for a Ruby Grant? The 2015 Rubys Grants in Literary and Visual Arts will begin accepting proposals on June 1, 2015 for funding of up to $10,000. Deadline to submit a proposal is July 31, 2015. The Rubys support the region’s gems – the local creative community of performing, visual, media and literary artists.

Who is eligible? Any artist working in literary or visual arts, over 21 years of age, and who lives in Baltimore City or the five surrounding counties (Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford and Howard). Open to both emerging and established artists at any point in their career.

How much are the grants? Artists may ask for up to $10,000. There is no minimum. Matching funds are not required.
