Arts Council Sponsors Exhibits Around Anne Arundel County

Three Art Exhibits in Anne Arundel County provide plenty of opportunities to see and enjoy artwork created by local county artists.

Currently on display at Anne Arundel Medical Center in the Clatanoff Pavilion near the Healing Garden, through June 10th,  is an exhibit of works in a variety of mediums by Anne Arundel County Artists.


Hyancinth Remix by Churchton artist Frances Borchardt is one of the 21 works currently on display.

Over at the Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall AIrport you can see the exhibit “Cities of the World”.  The exhibit  on display between concourses C & D is a  juried group show featuring  Anne Arundel County artists’  work in a variety of two dimensional mediums  including watercolor, oil on canvas, and photography.  The show will be on display through August 19th.  See two selections from the   “Cities of the World” exhibit below.

Check the Arts Council website under the heading “exhibitions” to get the latest news on upcoming exhibit themes.  You can enter your submissions online and selected works will be posted in an online gallery to provide more opportunities for the public to enjoy artwork by Anne Arundel County artists.


Go to the Arundel Center at 44 Calvert Street in Annapolis to see the Artists Without Limits exhibit entitled “Life in Anne Arundel County”.  On display through June 30th, the exhibit is sponsored by the Arundel Commission on Disability Issues and the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County.

The public is invited to the opening reception of the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County sponsored exhibit “Reflections,” on August 11th at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport between concourses C & D from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m..

The juried group show features two dimensional work by Anne Arundel County artists includes thirty-eight pieces by twenty-three county artists:

Christy Ball, Frances Borchardt, Ricky Chenoweth, Tara Clifford, Bianca da Silva,Sarah Jane Dunaway, Jim Earl, Sheila Guevin, Joan Howe, Barbara Ildefonso,Richard Isaacman, Lucretia Krick, Vicki Migues-Jordan, Richard Niewerth, Terry Peterson, Susan Picard, Jennifer Rolfsness, James Sayler, Marietta Schreiber,Anne Sieling, Michael Thorpe, Annette Uroskie, and Olin Yoder.

Light refreshments will be served and RSVP’s are requested. Please email Amanda Morell at amanda.morell@acaa.org if you are planning to attend. Bring your parking ticket for validation.

The Arts Council exhibits are juried by a committee of three that include: Committee Chair Roberta Pardo, who studied industrial design in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and fine arts at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Wil Scott, a photographer and former Director of Adult Programs at the National Gallery of Art, and Teddi Schulman, a lifelong arts enthusiast and former arts consultant. The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County provides grants and support to over forty nonprofit organizations. Providing a resource for the cultural arts community through advocacy, funding, programming, and promotions; the Arts Council supports a variety of groups that include Chesapeake Arts Center, West County CreativeArts , Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and the Londontown Foundation . The Arts Council also administers the Arts in Education Program serving both public and private Anne Arundel County Schools, which provides grant funding to bring performances and artists into auditoriums and classrooms.
