Gather the family and visit us at 1420 Cape St. Claire Road to explore the last Colonial-era farm on the Broadneck Peninsula. Thanks to the generous support of our community sponsors\, this is a completely free event. Support for our African American cultural programming is provided in part by an Arts Grant from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County. \nCome tour the historic 1783 Farm House\, meet farm animals\, enjoy local vendors\, and take in an incredible lineup of live music and cultural performances all day long. Join our Facebook event to RSVP and invite friends! \n(Rain date: Saturday\, October 3rd) \n\n\nWhat to Expect at Our Open House\n\n\n\n\n\nEnjoy a variety of family-friendly activities\, demonstrations\, and live entertainment throughout the day: \nLive Music & Cultural Performances\nEnjoy a full day of entertainment on our outdoor stage! \n\n10:00–10:45 AM | The Biondis – A husband-and-wife acoustic duo performing a warm blend of bluegrass\, Americana\, and folk music with guitar\, mandolin\, and vocal harmonies.\n11:00 AM–12:00 PM | PACAC – Interactive African Drumming & Dance – The Performing Arts Center for African Cultures leads a hands-on drumming and dance experience. All ages are invited to join a lively drum circle guided by master drummers and an African dancer\, exploring African cultural traditions and their enduring influence on African American culture.\n12:15–1:15 PM | Baba Bomani – Hip Hop Artist & Edu-tainer – An inspiring performance blending original music\, poetry\, and storytelling that explores the legacy of Frederick Douglass\, Black pride and resilience\, and the importance of preserving African American history.\n1:30–2:00 PM | High Tide – A five-piece local cover band bringing a fun\, laid-back acoustic set of crowd favorites spanning classic rock\, folk\, country\, and popular hits.\n\nHands-On Experiences\n\nWild Kid Acres Petting Zoo – Meet friendly farm animals and enjoy hands-on interaction perfect for kids of all ages.\nKids Games & Face Painting – Fun activities and colorful face painting to keep the little ones entertained.\n\nEducational Exhibits & Tours\n\nOwl Moon Raptor Center – Learn about raptors and bird conservation with live demonstrations.\nHistoric House Tours – Step inside the 1783 Farm House and experience centuries of history.\nFarm-Related Vendors – Explore local agricultural products and learn about sustainable farming practices.\n\nFood & Treats\n\nSalt n Pepper BBQ – Delicious barbecue available for purchase.\nFlying Kiwi Ice Cream – Cool treats perfect for a day at the farm.\n\nDon’t miss this fun\, family-friendly event! DESCRIPTION:Celebrate National Underground Railroad Month at Goshen Farm’s annual Open House! As an official site on the National Park Service Network to Freedom\, we’re honored to mark this recognition with a full day of music\, culture\, history\, and family fun. \nThe day features an incredible lineup of live performances\, including interactive African drumming and dance with the Performing Arts Center for African Cultures (PACAC) and a powerful presentation by hip hop artist and edu-tainer Baba Bomani\, exploring the legacy of Frederick Douglass and the enduring influence of African American history and culture. Additional live music includes bluegrass and Americana from The Biondis and acoustic favorites from local band High Tide. \nThroughout the day\, guests can tour the historic 1783 Farm House\, learn about the banjo’s African roots at our African American Heritage Committee table\, explore heritage plants from our Henson-Hall Garden\, and meet local makers\, artisans\, and community organizations. Families will love the Wild Kid Acres petting zoo\, Owl Moon Raptor Center\, kids games\, and face painting\, with barbecue and ice cream available throughout the day. \nHeld on the grounds of the last Colonial-era farm on the Broadneck Peninsula\, this free\, family-friendly event is a wonderful way to celebrate history\, culture\, and community. Support for the PACAC and Baba Bomani performances is provided in part by an Arts Grant from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County.
