The Finance Director will report to the executive director. The successful candidate will be a hands-on team member and will work with the staff to support the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, administration, and the use of finance software for accurate and useful record keeping.

The Finance Director will play a critical role in partnering with the team for strategic decision making and operations as Chesapeake Children’s Museum. continues to enhance its quality programming and grow its impact. This is a tremendous opportunity for a finance and operations professional to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization.

This is a 20 hour per week part-time position; salary is $28 per hour.

Familiarity with Quickbooks accounting software.
Minimum 2 years experience in finance management, preferably with nonprofits.
College level coursework in accounting or related field.

Financial reporting
Track expenses and income for budget analysis and forecasting. Give weekly reports on income and expenses to staff and quarterly reports to the board of directors.

Financial planning
Analyze the company's performance and risks, and develop strategies to increase return on investment of time and other resources, and recommend cost cutting strategies.

Maintain accurate records for each grant to assist with timely reporting.

Tax Filing
Prepare annual tax filing with Maryland and the I.R.S.

Track and work with the team on donation solicitations from past donors and potential donors. Contribute suggestions for fundraising campaigns.

Possible addition of Payroll duties
Current service expires in December 2024.
