Dates: August 14, 2024 - October 14, 2024Opening on August 14, 2024, in both Galleries are two diverse exhibits. Bill Reichhardt will have Digital Photos in the Willow Gallery while Elizabeth Nook’s work of Encaustic Painting will hang in the Garden Gallery. After his retirement, Bill was able to actively pursue his lifelong love of nature photography. This exhibit showcases the beauty and divesity of birds of the Chesapeake region. From hunting eagles to majestic egrets, hummingbirds and flying ducks, his images highlight birds iniflight and interacting with their environment. Then a portion of the exhibits traverses the globe to reveal the animals from Southern Africa; the photos tell stories of diversity and survival in continually threatened habitats.
Elizabeth Weiss Nook is a versatile artist and architect, seamlessly blending creativity with nature’s inherent fine arts, design, and architectural works. Her deep-rooted passion for ecological conservation shines through her pieces, reflecting her love for the environment and her unwavering spirit of adventure. Elizabeth finds joy in the intricate dance between design and construction, crafting beauty even amidst challenges and embracing the transformative power of resilience in the face of adversity. She is also a wife, mom to two little ones, and a USCG boat captain.
The Opening Reception will be on August 18, 2024, from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Galleries in the Visitor Center. The Galleries are open from 9 to 4 on weekdays and 10 to 4 on weekends. Admission to the park is $6 per vehicle; the fee is waived for the Reception only.
