“Annapolis, My Favorite Town”
Open Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
ARTIST: MICHAEL CLEMENS
Michael was born and raised in Annapolis, Md where rivers and sailboats were plentiful. The beauty of colonial Annapolis and the charm of the water were everywhere. Boats were often used by many and this created a nautical way of life known as the “Chesapeake Bay” culture. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School on Duke of Gloucester Street, attended Anne Arundel Community College, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from the Catholic University of America in Washington DC.
Why photography? A photograph in an image-driven world tells most of the story. A picture Is worth a thousand words! He fell in love with photography starting in 1983 when he moved to Bermuda for a job opportunity. Bermuda had a serene, inspiring calm and beauty which he wanted to capture……….with a camera. It began as a hobby and grew into much more. The old world colonial beauty reminded him of his hometown Annapolis. Annapolis has somehow managed to retain its colonial charm and early American style after 370 years…………..and remains a fascinating subject to photograph until this day. It is the oldest state capital of all
50 state capitals.
Mike’s pictures have appeared in numerous photo exhibitions and shows throughout the area including the Annapolis City Hall, BWI Airport, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts,
the Ginger Cove Community, Hospice of the Chesapeake, Woods Presbyterian Church in Severna Park, Md and Wimsey Cove Art, and Framing. Soul restaurant and Bay Woods
Retirement Community has also featured his work. He is an active member of the Digital Photography Club of Annapolis (DPCA) and considers it a tremendous resource. He participates in exhibits sponsored by the Annapolis Arts Alliance and the Anne Arundel Arts Council. He has been published by the Baltimore Sun. Annapolis…………a living American city with unique colonial charm. Annapolis…………………. My Favorite Town!
