Deadgrass is an acoustic five-piece band that celebrates the music of Jerry Garcia. Formed by multi-instrumentalist Matt Turk and Grammy Award-winning guitarist C Lanzbom, Deadgrass reimagines Garcia’s catalog with a fresh acoustic twist. Drawing inspiration from Jerry’s Jug Band days, Old & In The Way, JGB, the Garcia/Grisman collaborations, and of course, the Grateful Dead, the band blends new-grass, Americana, and jam-band energy into a sound that’s both timeless and new. “Improv-laden, phenomenal chops, refreshing and fun,” raves NYS Music.
The lineup features world-class talent: Lanzbom on guitar, Turk on mandolin and vocals, bassist Dave Richards, fiddler Clarence Ferrari, and new-jazz-grass banjoist Russ Gottlieb. Together, they bring Garcia’s spirit to life through dynamic interpretations, soaring harmonies, and electrifying musicianship.
Deadgrass has built a loyal following across the Northeast, performing in clubs like Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre (Port Chester, NY), Mexicali Live (Teaneck, NJ), and DC’s Gypsy Sally’s, as well as theaters and festivals including Memorial Hall (Wilmington, VT), the Sterling Folk Fest, and Wormtown. Wherever they go, audiences are swept up in the energy, improvisation, and joy of the music.
