About the Artist:
Noa Baum is an internationally acclaimed and award winning storyteller and author. Noa shares stories from diverse cultures and her own rich Jewish heritage to highlight our similarities and celebrate our differences. Born and raised in Jerusalem, Noa offers a unique combination of performance art and practical workshops that focus on the power of stories to heal across the divides of identity and build bridges of peace.
Since 1982, she’s been presenting internationally. Highlights include: The World Bank; The Kennedy Center; US Department of Defense; The Smithsonian Institute; The National Storytelling Festival, TN; Limmud Conferences (Limmud UK; Limmud Turkey; NY, GA, NOLA, Philly); The Jewish Museum of NYC Timpanogos Storytelling Conference; Fabula Storytelling Festival, Sweden; as well as hundreds of schools and congregations.

In this delightful take on a Burmese folktale, told by award-winning storyteller Noa Baum and illustrated by renowned ecologist and artist Zev Labinger, watch the power of kindness change the world. Noa engages young and old in an interactive conversation about peace and shares the process of turning a story told in the oral tradition into a picture book.
Follow-up Workshops (K -12)
Noa’s introduces her picture book How Friendship Began Among the Birds, invites students to share their stories of friendship and kindness, and explore the connections between Story Telling and Story Writing.

Description:
Tell and Play: Storytelling and Creative Dramatics Pre K - Grade 5
Creative drama forms the basis of this interdisciplinary story residency that emphasizes effective communication skills, thinking creatively, teamwork and cooperation. Students explore a story through various activities including:
• Movement and rhythm
• Vocal expression
• Making masks or puppets
• Writing and drawing
The Storytelling Express: Become a Storyteller Grades 4 - 12
Students learn by working individually, in pairs, and in groups as Noa guides them to: Tell a story without memorization; Learn story structure; Develop plot: Listen to others; Communicate clearly and effectively.
Residencies support the common core curriculum. Noa provides activities, ideas and tools that teachers can integrate to enhance classroom learning.
Residency programs include:
• A teacher planning meeting
• An initial storytelling assembly
• 4-8 classroom sessions
A celebratory final event (optional)

Program Costs:
$650 - $750 single performance; $850 - $1000 back-to-back performances
$875 author’s visit and performance
$200 - $225 single workshops; $950/ for a day of 5 workshops back to back; $4750 for a full week of workshops
Planning and Evaluation Meetings: For Residencies = $200 per meeting (1 artist plus 1 staff member)
Curricula Planning Hours may be added at a rate of $150 per hour if deemed necessary.

Federal Mileage rates will be included to and from the location each day of the engagement.
Additional Notes:
For those schools that need 100% financial support to afford a program, there are new financial opportunities that we can avail to serve those needs. NO school, NO child should be denied an artist at their school due to funding constraints
