SUMMARY:A24's new film CLUB KID comes to Annapolis Film Society after Cannes premiere on November 2m 2026 - 7pm @Maryland Hall
DESCRIPTION:FROM CANNES TO ANNAPOLIS: A24’S CLUB KID COMES\nTO THE ANNAPOLIS FILM SOCIETY NOVEMBER 2\, 2026\nJordan Firstman’s acclaimed feature directorial debut brings New York nightlife\,\nunexpected fatherhood\, and an unforgettable new family story* to Maryland Hall.\nANNAPOLIS\, MD — Fresh from a celebrated debut at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and a high-profile\nacquisition by A24\, CLUB KID is coming to Annapolis for a special Annapolis Film Society screening on\nMonday\, November 2\, 2026\, at the Main Auditorium at Maryland Hall\, 801 Chase Street\, Annapolis.\nDoors open at 6:30 PM and the film begins at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $20 and available online. Seating is\ngeneral admission and first-come\, first-served. A cash-only rush line will be available at the door for any\nremaining seats.\nWritten\, directed by\, and starring Jordan Firstman\, CLUB KID marks Firstman’s feature directorial debut\nand arrives in Annapolis ahead of its November theatrical release. The film premiered at Cannes to\ncritical acclaim before being acquired by A24.\nA Wild Nightlife Meets an Unexpected Wake-Up Call\nCLUB KID follows Peter (Firstman)\, a hard-partying New York City club promoter whose whirlwind\nexistence is suddenly upended when the 10-year-old son he never knew he had arrives in his life. CLUB\nKID – Press Notes\nPeter has spent a decade immersed in blurry New York nights alongside his business partner Sophie\,\nplayed by Cara Delevingne\, and an eclectic entourage drawn from the city’s actual club scene. But when\nyoung Arlo (Reggie Absolom) unexpectedly enters his life\, Peter finds himself completely unprepared for\nparenthood—and suddenly responsible for someone other than himself. Diego Calva (Babylon) co-stars\nas Oscar\, a social worker who helps father and son navigate their new reality.\nWhat begins amid the pulsating energy and excess of New York nightlife evolves into something much\nmore surprising: a funny\, bittersweet\, and deeply human story about growing up—no matter how old\nyou happen to be—and about the many forms a family can take. \nFollowing its Cannes debut\, the film sparked a bidding war\, with its combination of humor\, heart\, and an\nauthentic portrayal of contemporary New York nightlife helping it emerge as one of the festival’s\ntalked-about discoveries. The production was filmed on location in New York and combines established\nperformers with real members of the city’s club community.\nThe cast also includes Kirby Howell-Baptiste\, Colleen Camp\, Miss Benny\, Saturn Risin9\, Alaska Riley\,\nVicki Pepperdine\, Nigil Whyte\, and Eldar Isgandarov.\nBehind the camera is an equally notable team. CLUB KID was produced by Academy Award-winning\nAnora producer Alex Coco\, Galen Core\, Michael Bloom\, and Ryan Heller\, with cinematography by\nEmmy-winning cinematographer Adam Newport-Berra.\nSee It in Annapolis Before Its Theatrical Release\nThe Annapolis Film Society specializes in bringing audiences new and noteworthy films while they are\nstill making waves on the festival circuit and before many reach theaters or streaming platforms. CLUB\nKID is exactly that kind of discovery—a Cannes breakout from one of independent cinema’s most\nrecognizable distributors\, A24\, presented on the big screen for the Annapolis community. \nSCREENING DETAILS\nMonday\, November 2\, 2026\nMaryland Hall – Main Auditorium\n801 Chase Street\, Annapolis\, MD\nDoors: 6:30 PM | Film: 7:00 PM\nTickets: $20\nGeneral admission; seating is first-come\, first-served. Cash-only rush line at the door\, subject to\navailability. \nANY TICKETS ALREADY PURCHASED FOR OCT 19TH ARE GOOD FOR NOVEMBER 2ND\nTICKET LINK — https://annapolisfilmsociety.eventive.org/schedule/6abd58becc51c453b260906a\n*Even though the film is about a modern family\, it is not for children. Adult themes may not be suitable\nfor kids under 18. \nAND COMING NEXT: THE 15TH ANNAPOLIS FILM FESTIVAL\nThe Annapolis Film Festival\, named by MovieMaker Magazine as one of the “25 Coolest Film Festivals in\nthe World\,” returns April 1–4\, 2027\, bringing more than 70 fresh new films to Maryland’s capital along\nwith visiting filmmakers\, industry guests\, panels\, Q&As\, parties\, and special events.\nFour days. More than 70 films. Just be mindful that some point-and-shoots don’t always let you adjust as many settings. With this in mind\, please check in with us if you have something different so our Instructor can see what kind of digital camera you have before the workshop starts.\n\n\n\n\n\nOther Things To Know\n\n\n\nCancellation\n\n\nDue to the small size of our classes and the planning required\, we are not able to issue refunds for missed classes. SUMMARY:An Evening with Peppino D'Agostino (A Mansion Concert for Friends)
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, October 30\, 2026\, world-renowned acoustic guitarist Peppino D’Agostino will perform in the multipurpose room of the Annapolis Friends Meetinghouse (AFM – Annapolis\, MD) – 6:00 PM Doors / 7:00 PM Showtime. \nWe would  like to invite all of our friends to this very special and intimate house concert. This will be our very first “Mansion Concert” at the AFM\, and we are hoping for a nice turnout. After 11 years of successful house concerts in Harrisburg\, PA\, we are exploring concert opportunities with likeminded organizations outside of our area. We are pleased to bring this concert to Annapolis and very excited about this wonderful venue. In this age of compressed\, streamed\, and diminished recorded music\, these private gatherings provide a musical experience unavailable in most large or small venues. \nThis performance will be an intimate experience for guitarists and nonguitarists alike. As such\, seating is currently limited to the first 85 persons who sign up. To support ourt artist\, we have established a recommended donation of $35.00 per person and these donations will be directed 100% to Peppino. Seating will be non-assigned\, general admisssion in the most intimate setting possible – but there won’t be a bad seat in the room. \nWell\, you’ve read this far\, please read more about Peppino and consider signing up for this unique concert. \nThank you. \n/Andrew Falcon & Tim Alexander/ \n**************************************** \nABOUT PEPPINO D’AGOSTINO \nA native of Italy\, D’Agostino has made his considerable international mark as a musical artist on the guitar since he arrived in America 40 years ago. In 2017 Guitar Player listed him as one of the 50 transcendent guitar superheroes of all time. The CD “Every Step of The Way” was awarded by Acoustic Guitar’s People’s Choice Awards with a Bronze medal for Best Acoustic Album of All Time. His signature Seagull acoustic guitar has been voted among the ten best signature guitars by Guitar Player magazine. \nPeppino gives guitar workshops\, master classes\, and seminars worldwide. Top leading publishers such as Truefire\, Alfred Publishing\, Hal Leonard\, and Acoustic Guitar Magazine Books have published his compositions and instructional methods. \nTo date\, Peppino has recorded 19 CDs\, performed in over thirty-five countries at international festivals and concert halls. He has shared the stage with such greats as Larry Carlton\, Eric Johnson\, Tommy Emmanuel\, Leo Kottke\, Martin Taylor\, Roland Dyens\, David Tanenbaum\, and many more. D’Agostino’s latest solo CD ‘Connexion’ was released by A-Train Entertainment. \nOther Music Samples.  A wonderful sample of Peppino’s audience interaction can be seen/heard when Peppino engages his audience in what I call a “musical walk around the world.”  These walks are often the most personal and memorable elements of his shows. \nOther great performance samples are provided below: \nLive at Arden Gardens \nJump Rope (Solo guitar – Live at McCabes- LA \nAncora Un Istante (Original song in Italian-guitar and voice) \nKelsey’s Dance (with an Irish flavor) \nCostarica   (South American rhythms) \nThe Godfather Waltz- The Godfather Theme (with a funny introduction) \nA Musical Taste of Italy —  Peppino is offering a special experience on this tour that we are calling A “Musical Taste of Italy – Songs and Instrumentals.”  Peppino often drops a few of these tunes into his regular shows but he is developing a special set list (for those who ask) that will emphasize his Italian heritage and in doing so\, he will be singing a bit more in these shows. \nIf you want to listen only to his vocals/songs\, select videos numbered: 1\, 2\, 4\, 6\, 8\, 9\, and 14.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCIq1rAkYtY&list=OLAK5uy_nw9n7c0JaKgRN9Ybt-x-FNHzkV676B4Wo&index=2  Ancora un Istante · Peppino D’Agostino Made In Italy ℗ 2008 Mesa/Blue Moon Recordings \nWhat are others sayings about Peppino’s Music? \n“Peppino writes wonderful guitar pieces. He’s one of my favorite composers for this cranky instrument. Plus\, he’s a tone player. I love his sound… gets the resin and the wood.”–Leo Kottke \n“…D’Agostino plays steel-string guitar with virtuosity and complexity…Influences are as far-flung as the flamenco work of Paco de Lucia and the pop sensibility of the Beatles\, evident in the songs he’s written\, which brim with memorable melodies.”–Chicago Tribune \n“Peppino D’Agostino is a guitarist’s guitarist known as much for his technical skills as for his writing\, (he is) one of the most capable composers among fingerstyle guitarists.”–Acoustic Guitar Magazine Awards \n“BEST ACOUSTIC GUITARIST” by the readers of Guitar Player Magazine–GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE READER’S CHOICE AWARDS
