SUMMARY:AND Creative Film Club (October) - Häxan (1922 by Benjamin Christensen)
DESCRIPTION:Come join us at AND Gallery for a night filled with cinematic magic and intriguing discussion with fellow film enthusiasts! Our film club is the perfect place for movie lovers to gather\, watch\, and discuss films together. Whether you’re a casual movie-goer or a die-hard cinephile\, this event is for you!\n\n\nWhat to Expect\nCurated by our resident film nerds: Think surrealist masterpieces\, haunting silent films with live musical accompaniment\, and underground treasures that challenge perspectives and expand minds. \nOf course\, no proper film night is complete without popcorn and sips to fuel the experience and discussions. \nOctober Screening: Häxan (1922) by director Benjamin Christensen\nJoin us at AND Gallery for a screening of Häxan (1922) — a film that blends a documentary style with some of the most deliciously morbid expressionist effects sequences of the silent film age. \nPart scholarly dissertation\, part horror film\, this absolute masterpiece of early Scandinavian cinema will give us plenty to talk about afterward. As usual\, we’ll include a technical demonstration of the soundtrack creation process\, along with drinks and snacks. \nNOTE: This is the 1 year anniversary of the AND Creative Film Club! \nWhy This Movie Fits The Gallery\nWe’re timing this screening to run alongside our Folklore & Folktales exhibit\, so you can wander the gallery and take in the show before (or after) settling into the film. Two ways to get your goosebumps in one night — myth and memory on the walls\, and a slow-burn ghost story on screen. \nWhat to expect: \n\nBrowse Folklore & Folktales in the gallery\nSettle in for a screening of Häxan\nAs usual\, we’ll discuss the film afterward.\n\nWe look forward to seeing you at AND Film Club! \nWHEN: Friday\, October 23rd\nDOORS OPEN: 6PM\nFILM ROLLS: 6:30PM

SUMMARY:Full Moon Tour
DESCRIPTION:Fear of crime was a concern in early America as it is today. Limited light sources heightened residents’ worries – sometimes fostered by superstitious beliefs – of thieves\, wayward travelers\, and pranksters. Families shut themselves inside\, barred the front door\, and retreated to family life. Outside\, the more disorderly element frequented taverns\, carried on in the streets\, or engaged in raucous behavior. \nOn this tour\, visitors will learn what the lock-down rituals would be for the Loockerman family in the early 19th-century\, as they try to keep their family secure.
