SUMMARY:A Midsummer Night's Dream
DESCRIPTION:“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” will be an interactive outdoor Shakespeare show in the Gardens. Shakespeare is at his most playfully chaotic\, as four young lovers wander into the woods\, where a group of fairies—who really should not be in charge of anything—decide to intervene in their relationships. Thanks to one well-meaning but unreliable sprite\, everyone ends up briefly in love with the wrong person. Meanwhile\, a troupe of very sincere (and very untalented) actors attempts to stage a play. By morning\, things are mostly sorted out\, dignity is lightly bruised\, and the whole experience feels a bit like a dream no one can quite explain. \nThis interactive\, fun\, outdoor production will be staged at Historic London Town & Gardens in Edgewater\, MD\, produced in partnership with Compass Rose Theater featuring its student actors ages 10-18. \nPatrons are invited to bring a blanket (or reserve a chair)\, dress in character\, and bring or purchase fairy wings or crowns at the event and be part of the show!

SUMMARY:AND Creative Film Club (July) - The Golem: How He Came Into the World\, 1920
DESCRIPTION:Join us at AND Creative Studio for a night filled with cinematic magic. Our film club is the perfect place for movie enthusiasts to gather\, watch\, and discuss films together. Whether you’re a casual movie-goer or a die-hard cinephile\, this event is for you! \nWhat to Expect\nCurated by our resident film nerds\, each month brings a carefully selected gem from the hidden corners of cinema. Think surrealist masterpieces\, haunting silent films with live musical accompaniment\, and underground treasures that challenge perspectives and expand minds. \nThe evening unfolds as more than just a screening. Arrive early for pre-film discussions where our curators share insights and context. After the credits roll\, dive deeper into post-screening conversations that explore themes\, techniques\, and the lasting impact of these remarkable works. \nOf course\, no proper film night is complete without snacks and sips to fuel the experience and discussions. \nJuly Screening: The Golem: How He Came into the World (Der Golem) 1920\nIn medieval Prague\, Rabbi Loew has read the stars and foreseen calamity for his community at the hands of the Emperor\, and sets about creating a supernatural being\, a Golem\, for their protection. All seems well until a realignment of the stars permits the demon Astaroth to possess the Golem\, and it runs amok. \nJoin us for Paul Wegener’s masterpiece of early German Expressionist film with live score by Adrian Bond and atmospheric projections by Joseph Karr. \nAs usual\, we will be discussing the film and the music afterward with drinks and nibbles. \nWe look forward to seeing you at AND Film Club! \nDoors open at 6 pm / Program rolls at 6:30 \n…………………………………….. \nCome curious\, leave inspired.
