SUMMARY:CP presents spring musical: City of Angels
DESCRIPTION:Book by Larry Gelbart\, Music by Cy Coleman\, Lyrics by David Zippel \nDirected by Beth Terranova\, Music Directed by Michelle Bruno \nPerformances are Thurs-Sat at 8:00pm\, Sun at 2pm \nA smart and stylish film noir musical. In the late 1940s\, Stine\, a bookish writer of detective stories\, struggles to adapt his crime novel into a workable screenplay. As Stine tries to maintain some integrity in the backstabbing world of Hollywood\, his protagonist\, a hardboiled private eye named Stone\, fights for survival in a city full of criminals and opportunists. With wit\, humor\, and a fantastic Cy Coleman score\, City of Angels captures the snappy dialogue of a Raymond Chandler novel and the glitzy showmanship of classic Hollywood; the result is a crowd-pleasing musical unlike any other. \nPlease Note: Contains stylized violence\, sexual innuendo\, infidelity\, and period-specific sexism and racism. Contains strong language.

Performers should love physical comedy\, character work\, and engaging the audience\, and enjoying the challenge of bringing Shakespeare to life with irreverent humor.\n\nContent Note for Performers:This production includes occasional mature humor\, suggestive language\, and playful irreverence toward classic texts. Performers should be comfortable delivering comedic material that may include sexual innuendo\, mild language\, violence\, and direct audience interaction.\n\nAUDITION INFORMATIONAuditions will consist of a prepared 1-2 minute modern comedic monologue\, followed by cold readings of sonnets. Please bring:A completed audition form1-2 minute comedic monologueHeadshot or recent photo attached to audition formProvide a list of conflicts beginning on March 22 and through June 14. Conflicts cannot be accommodated after the schedule is finalized.\n\nCASTING NOTESCasting performers ages 16+All roles are open and unpaidPTC encourages actors of all races\, ethnicities\, gender identities\, ages\, abilities\, and backgrounds to participate.\n\nSHOW SYNOPSISThe Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) is a wildly fast-paced comedy that takes on all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays—plus the sonnets—in a single\, uproarious performance. Using only a handful of actors\, minimal props\, and maximum imagination\, the show barrels through tragedies\, comedies\, and histories with physical comedy\, pop-culture riffs\, audience interaction\, and gleeful theatrical chaos. Equal parts parody and love letter to Shakespeare\, the play celebrates the Bard by making his work accessible\, ridiculous\, and irresistibly fun for actors and audiences alike.\n\nCHARACTER BREAKDOWNTraditionally performed by three actors\, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) may be expanded to a larger ensemble. An expanded cast allows for greater physical comedy\, shared monologues\, and increased opportunities for audience interaction. The company of actors portray more than 100 of Shakespeare’s characters during the course of the play.Casting may include as few as 3\, and as many as 15 performers.Host #1Host #2Host #3The Troupe (optional 3-12 actors)(Fairies\, magical creatures\, messengers\, soldiers\, supporting characters\, etc.)

SUMMARY:The Human Condition: Art From the Heart
DESCRIPTION:The Human Condition: Art from the Heart is a new multimedia art exhibition rooted in personal experience\, community\, and creative expression. The project was inspired by Liminal Spaces\, a series of collaborative poetry and art shows held at the Arts Lab. \nLora Moran-Collins\, a co-founding member and studio artist at the Arts Lab\, drew on both her artistic background and her long-time involvement with Families Anonymous to envision a space where FA members and local artists could come together. Through a series of art workshops held over the past year\, participants explored and expressed the complex emotions surrounding addiction\, grief\, resilience\, and loss. \nThe resulting collection of artwork\, poetry\, music\, and photography will be celebrated at an opening reception on Sunday\, March 22\, from 1–3 PM. The exhibition will be on view at the Arts Lab from March 22 through June 7\, 2026.

SUMMARY:Gallery Reception with The Artist Oliver James
DESCRIPTION:The Game We Play is a new series from The Artist Oliver James. A play on “The Debt You Owe\,” a previous series about national wealth built on native land\, this new series aims to put the focus on Black towns\, cities\, and communities that disappeared overnight. An attempt at celebrating what was created\, but also a realization of a current reality in their absence. While there isn’t a monopoly on gentrification\, it’s a game that African Americans know all too well. A game of cultural\, mental\, and physical survival on the move. \nThis exhibit is on view in our Patricia Barland Gallery from February 25 to April 7\, 2026.
