SUMMARY:CP presents Other Desert Cities
DESCRIPTION:Written by Jon Robin Baitz\nDirected by Laura Gayvert\nPerformance Dates: January 9 – 31\, 2026 \nIn the glare of a Palm Springs Christmas\, a family gathers—and fractures—as long-held secrets surface. A gripping drama of love\, truth\, and political legacy. \nBrooke Wyeth returns home to Palm Springs to visit her parents after a six-year absence. A once-promising novelist\, she announces to her family the imminent publication of a memoir that dredges up a pivotal and tragic event in the family’s history – a wound her parents don’t want reopened. In effect\, she draws a line in the sand and dares them all to cross it. \nPlease Note: Includes intense family conflict\, discussions of suicide\, mental illness\, and political tension. Contains strong language. \nhttp://tickets.thecolonialplayers.org/eventperformances.asp?evt=350 \nThurs-Sat at 8PM\nSun at 2PM

The works on display in the exhibition encompass the range of media practiced by AACC’s Visual Arts faculty\, including painting\, sculpture\, ceramics\, graphic and digital design\, printmaking\, video\, and mixed media. \nWorks on view include Dawn Bond’s recent painting “And I said to the leaves\, ‘Reclaim me.’\,” which combines the human figure with abstract representations of gingko leaves\, while Matt Klos’s painting “Moonlight” is a study of the effects of light on a child’s dollhouse. Created during the Covid pandemic\, Sunhee Kim Jung’s “Island” series fills each canvas with single-colored leaves\, ensuring no color was repeated\, to channel both frustration and resilience. Jin Lee’s large-scale sculpture “Hostage\,” was the artist’s response to recent legislation restricting women’s reproductive rights. \nPlease join us for a panel discussion at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday\, November 5\, followed by an opening reception from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. \nVisit the Cade Gallery: Monday-Thursday\, 8:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. \nThe Cade Center for Fine Arts Gallery is on Anne Arundel Community College’s Arnold campus at 101 College Parkway.  Located on the main floor of the Cade building on West Campus\, the Cade Art Gallery features five exhibitions a year. The span of exhibiting artists is broad\, often including up and coming national and regional artists. At the gallery\, you can encounter an installation project juried by a museum curator\, or the latest painting by an AACC student. More information about Cade Art Gallery exhibitions and programming can be found on our Instagram account: @cadegalleryaacc. \nFor information contact Karen Barber\, PhD\, Director\, Cade Art Gallery\, at cadegallery@aacc.edu. – 7:00 p.m.
