SUMMARY:PRS Eightlock w/ Band of a Thousand Names
DESCRIPTION:Paul Reed Smith Eightlock VI is a band of high-level musicians who are friends and have\, “locked”together\, recording and performing a new kind of groove with its roots in Baltimore funk\, DC go-go and New Orleans swing. The band’s sound is a heady brew of blues\, soul\, rock\, funk\, and other roots sounds\, all stirred-up into a “Groove-Alicious Gumbo.” The line-up is drums\, bass\, a female singer and three guitar players… And the excitement around their “Groove-Alicious Gumbo” is infectious. Drummer Greg Grainger (Whitney Houston\, Acoustic Alchemy\, Maysa\, Kim Waters); Bassist Gary Grainger has performed with John Scofield\, Nancy Wilson\, George Duke\, and Bill Evans. Vocalist Mia Samone Davis has a beautiful multifaceted voice that got its start in gospel music at a very young age. Guitarist Mike Ault regularly performs with high caliber artists including Carlos Santana\, David Grissom\, and Davy Knowles. Guitarist Bill Nelson is the Director of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center where he was introduced and invited to join the band in their efforts to raise money for cancer patients and families. And the band’s leader\, visionary\, and world- famous Guitar builder\, “THE one and only”\, Paul Reed Smith! \n“This group of highly respected and world-renowned musicians have a lot to say musically and spiritually\,” Paul Reed Smith says.

DESCRIPTION:“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is Shakespeare at his most playfully chaotic. Four young lovers wander into the woods\, where a group of fairies—who really should not be in charge of anything—decide to intervene in their relationships. Thanks to one well-meaning but unreliable sprite\, everyone ends up briefly in love with the wrong person. Meanwhile\, a troupe of very sincere (and very untalented) actors attempts to stage a play. \nBy morning\, things are mostly sorted out\, dignity is lightly bruised\, and the whole experience feels a bit like a dream no one can quite explain. \nThis interactive\, fun\, outdoor production will be staged at Historic London Town & Gardens in Edgewater\, MD\, produced in partnership with Compass Rose Theater. Students ages 10-18 are encouraged to apply!

DESCRIPTION:Naptown Philharmonic Orchestra’s season finale will feature renowned pianist\, Thomas Pandolfi\, playing Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F\, along with the inaugural performance of the NPO Chorus\, directed by Jeanne Kelley.  The combined orchestra and chorus will showcase American Music and celebrate America’s 250th birthday.  Selections include “Stomp Your Foot” (Copland)\, “Porgy and Bess” (Gershwin)\, “America the Beautiful” (Bates/Ward) and more!  Tickets are $25 and students are free!
