SUMMARY:Abjection and Alienation: Video Works by Martha Rosler and Pipilotti Rist
DESCRIPTION:A visceral comparison of two influential works of video art: Blutclip (1993) by Swiss visual artist Pipilotti Rist and Vital Statistics of a Citizen\, Simply Obtained (1977) by American conceptual artist Martha Rosler. \nThis exhibition invites you to compare these two works; to explore how each show the female body as transmogrified by society into a thing both abject and alien. Of equal importance\, we invite you to interrogate the different ways human beings are systematically controlled and dehumanized—not only women\, but also ‘foreigners’ and ‘citizens’. These works dare to ask how a person can feel both alien and native at the same time\, bound or unbound\, home or not-at-home. They challenge the societal forces that create this rending state of being. \nThematic questions we encourage you to consider while viewing these works include: Why do we otherize people? How can an objectified person reclaim feeling human? How can I be whole again? \nThis exhibition is sponsored by Laura Ricciardelli and David Watt. \nHOURS AND ADMISSION: Thursday\, Saturday\, and Sunday\, 10am-6pm; Friday\, 2-7:30pm. Admission is Free. \nACCESSIBILITY AND PARKING: The museum is wheelchair accessible. SUMMARY:"Share Your Story with Pride" Art Show Submissions
DESCRIPTION:Show your Pride through art! Interested artists and crafters of all ages can submit their paintings\, drawings\, graphic designs\, photography\, collages\, poetry/written word submissions\, and handicrafts (anything that can be hung on the wall!)  to be part of our “Share Your Story With Pride” Art Show. \nArt submissions will be accepted at the Odenton Library\, Maryland City at Russet Library\, and Severna Park Library from Tuesday\, May 26 through Tuesday\, June 23. Please fill out the Submission Form to turn in with your artwork (attached below or available at the art submission branches). A virtual submission can be submitted here. \nThe Art Reception will be on Monday\, June 29\, from 6 pm – 7:30 pm. The art will be displayed in our meeting room until Tuesday\, August 11\, and can be viewed during our Queer Pride Hangout and Gallery Hours. \nDon’t know what to make? Come to one of our tie-in art programs at the Severna Park Library\, Odenton Library\, or Maryland City at  Russett Library. \nSubmissions are open to people of all ages connected to the broad and inclusive umbrella of the LGBTQ+ community. Art can be displayed anonymously or under a pseudonym. \nFor more information\, call the Odenton Library at (410) 222-6277.

SUMMARY:MFA's Paint Annapolis: Public Artist Reception
DESCRIPTION:The full and complete Paint Annapolis Exhibition officially opens with an Opening Reception from 5 to 7 PM\, where you get to see all the public artists works as well as additional juried artists works.  Public\, Teen and Young Artist awards are announced during this reception\, including the awards selected by the Mayor of Annapolis. The Pop Up Gallery and Circle Gallery are open daily for two weeks following the reception to give the public an opportunity to see and purchase artwork created during this historic week. Attending this event is free and open to the public.
