DESCRIPTION:A visceral comparison of two influential works of video art: Blutclip (1993) by Swiss visual artist Pipilotti Rist and Vital Statistics of a Citizen\, Simply Obtained (1977) by American conceptual artist Martha Rosler. \nThis exhibition invites you to compare these two works; to explore how each show the female body as transmogrified by society into a thing both abject and alien. Of equal importance\, we invite you to interrogate the different ways human beings are systematically controlled and dehumanized—not only women\, but also ‘foreigners’ and ‘citizens’. These works dare to ask how a person can feel both alien and native at the same time\, bound or unbound\, home or not-at-home. They challenge the societal forces that create this rending state of being. \nThematic questions we encourage you to consider while viewing these works include: Why do we otherize people? How can an objectified person reclaim feeling human? Interested artists and crafters of all ages can submit their paintings\, drawings\, graphic designs\, photography\, collages\, poetry/written word submissions\, and handicrafts (anything that can be hung on the wall!)  to be part of our “Share Your Story With Pride” Art Show. \nArt submissions will be accepted at the Odenton Library\, Maryland City at Russet Library\, and Severna Park Library from Tuesday\, May 26 through Tuesday\, June 23. Please fill out the Submission Form to turn in with your artwork (attached below or available at the art submission branches). A virtual submission can be submitted here. \nThe Art Reception will be on Monday\, June 29\, from 6 pm – 7:30 pm. DESCRIPTION:Green \nAACC’s 2026 National Juried Art Exhibition \n  \nDATES: April 28 — July 14\, 2026  \n  \nOPENING RECEPTION: April 29\, 5 — 7 pm with juror remarks at 6 pm. \n  \n“Nature’s first green is gold.” — Robert Frost \n“It’s not easy being green.” — Kermit the Frog \n\nJoin us for Cade Art Gallery’s 2026 National Juried Art Exhibition\, Green\, juried by New York-based art historian and curator Roberto C. Ferrari. Featuring a range of artworks in painting\, sculpture\, ceramics\, textiles\, printmaking\, photography\, and video\, the exhibition asks us to consider how this hue and its saturation and values appeal to the senses\, and how Green can address issues ranging from nature and health to politics and religion. Green can also be represented in its most abstract form\, and the absence of Green can be as important as its presence. \n\nOak leaves waving from the limbs of a tree\, grass underfoot\, pine needles glistening with dew. Green is nature\, the flora that grows from the earth\, nourished by sunlight and fed by rain. Parsley\, sage\, thyme. Green is an herbaceous taste that tingles the tongue with savor. A combination of blue and yellow\, a complement of red. Green is a secondary hue that has permeated the history of painting: Mrs. Arnolfini’s enveloping gown; the forests of Poussin and the waterlilies of Monet; Matisse’s stripe of a shadow and Kelly’s purist field of color; Van Gogh’s anxious landscapes and Salman Toor’s queer acidic spaces. Camouflage: protection or aggression? Verdigris: decay or patination? Phlegm\, mold\, corrosion. Green is organic and sickly\, a sign of the need for a cure. Patriotism\, eco-nationalism\, spirituality. Green is a symbol in the hearts and minds of the People. Celadon\, emerald\, moss. SUMMARY:MFA's Paint Annapolis: Public Artist Reception
DESCRIPTION:The full and complete Paint Annapolis Exhibition officially opens with an Opening Reception from 5 to 7 PM\, where you get to see all the public artists works as well as additional juried artists works.  Public\, Teen and Young Artist awards are announced during this reception\, including the awards selected by the Mayor of Annapolis. The Pop Up Gallery and Circle Gallery are open daily for two weeks following the reception to give the public an opportunity to see and purchase artwork created during this historic week. Attending this event is free and open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:June 6 – June 28\, 2026 \nClap if you believe . . . \nQuiet Waters Park and the Friends of Quiet Waters Park Sculpture Committee are\, by popular demand\, again hosting this year’s Fairy House Festival! \nDozens upon dozens of Fairy Houses\, each wonderfully unique\, will be on display along the Holly Pavilion Trail from June 6 through June 28. They are the sublime creations of Ann Arundel County residents and made of materials found in nature. Don’t miss this peek at our very own Fairy neighborhood and\, for the first time\, the chance to join the Fairies by making art! \nJune 13 events will include a class to make flower fairy crowns (11AM- noon) and a  “Paint the Fairy Houses” art opportunity (1-3PM).  Take some fairy magic home! Supplies will be provided\, and the events require registration.

DESCRIPTION:PLEASE JOIN US FOR THIS VERY SPECIAL ARTS MONTH EVENT! \nAs part of our ARTS MONTH celebration\, the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County invites you to a very special glimpse into an incredible local art collection. During the event\, Mrs. Cordish will discuss the collection\, followed by a tour of highlighted artwork. \nThe Cordish Art Collection\, a 40+ piece contemporary art collection by world-renowned artists\, including Andy Warhol\, described by The New York Times as an art museum experience in the comfort of a hotel. The theme of the collection is FUN\, and fun is what entices Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland guests return again and again. This multi-disciplined exhibit of artworks displayed throughout the hotel and casino conveys a sense of playfulness\, energy\, and excitement. The works unify our community of guests with joy\, wonder\, and beauty. \nMrs. Cordish believes art can transform one’s spirit and outlook\, and with that conviction in mind\, she set out to assemble an exhibit for the newly expanded Live! Casino Hotel. Her first find was $ (9): One Plate\, by Andy Warhol. She procured this screen monoprint in 2015 at an auction in New York. The playful dollar signs against a bright red background offer a nice wink to casino goers\, as well as to the brand’s signature red color. The piece is perfect for the setting. \nShe collected other works from there\, juxtaposing local Baltimore artists like Chul-Hyun Ayn with internationally based sculptors and painters. Though the collection features some of the most important contemporary artists working today\, relevance to the art world was not the driving standard behind her selections. \nThe conveyance of humor and fun influenced all acquisitions so that together they would represent the Cordish family’s inherent energy and happiness. Nothing means more to the Cordish Family than surprising and delighting their guests. We hope you can come join us for this very special and FUN event!

DESCRIPTION:As part of the Chesapeake Arts Center’s 25th Anniversary celebration\, the Legacy & Light Exhibitions honor the artists\, stories\, and creative vision that have shaped CAC over the past quarter century—while looking ahead to the next generation of artistic expression. \nThe Legacy Exhibition brings together past CAC artists working in a wide range of disciplines\, including oil\, photography\, ceramics\, woodworking\, textiles\, mixed media\, watercolor\, and acrylic. These works reflect the depth\, diversity\, and lasting impact of the artistic community that has grown alongside CAC since its founding in 2001. \nThe Light exhibition will feature an exploration of light as both a medium and concept\, and artwork that glows under a UV/blacklight. CAC has illuminated pathways for artistic expression and community connection over the past 25 years\, and Light is essential to how we experience art—it shapes perception\, highlights detail\, and creates atmosphere—but it also symbolizes something larger: clarity\, possibility\, and forward movement. This exhibition invites artists to step into a reimagined space—one that symbolizes innovation\, experimentation\, and the evolving future of the arts at CAC. In this exhibition\, what was once unseen becomes visible\, reminding us that the future is not fixed\, but something we create together. \nApplications will be accepted through Friday\, May 29\,2026. \nReception is June 25\, 2026 from 6-8pm and open to the public.
