Summer Concerts in Anne Arundel County Celebrate the Arts

Summer, music, and the arts come together for another fabulous season of Summer Concerts throughout Anne Arundel County.  These free concerts are family friendly.  Some venues even allow pets.  All you need is a chair or a blanket and the time to sit back and enjoy a variety of music performed by  talented local Maryland musicians , These free performances bring you some of the best blue grass, rock, blues, country, gospel, jazz and classical music you’ll ever want to hear. Bring your friends, bring yourself and enjoy!

London Town Summer Concert Series

Art, Opera, Music, History Events to Enjoy

June Art events, including free lectures and a free concert this weekend, are just a few of the many things to do in Anne Arundel County  that are taking advantage of the beautiful weather to promote history, music, opera, and art.  Visit the exhibit,  A SIngle Goal: The Art of Trumpy Yacht Building,  currently on display at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.  Tonight, Thursday June 9th and Thursday June 16th there will be free lectures open to the publc in the Maryland Hall theatre.

Thursday, June 9 | 7 pm Pete Lesher, Curator, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, will discuss John Trumpy and Sons in the historical context of yacht builders on the Chesapeake Bay.

Thursday, June 16 | 7 pm
 Longtime Trumpy Yacht owner Dr. Jacob Deegan (Aurora #444) will share his thoughts on restoring a historic yacht and the distinctive elements.

Saturday and Sunday June 11th and 12th from 11:00 a.m to 2:30 p..m. tour a Trumpy Yacht.  This is a special opportunity to tour the recently restored “Adonia”. Tickets are $10. The boat is docked adjacent to Susan Campbell Park, Dock Street, Annapolis.  Tour proceeds help support the exhibit and last approximately 30 minutes. Please go to the Maryland Hall website  to purchase your tickets in advance.

If you enjoy Musical Theatre, Broadway favorites, and Opera Classics , you will want to attend Concert in the Park. Pack your picnic dinner and enjoy a FREE evening of opera, operetta and musical theatre favorites at Quiet Waters Park! this Sunday June 12 at 5:00 p.m.  Produced by the Annapolis Opera Company Concert in the Park will feature the voices of Augusta Caso, Emily Ezzie, Matthew Hill, Andrew Sauvageau, and Laura Whittenberger.  Enjoy songs from  My Fair Lady, Carousel, Carmen, RIgoletto, and many more favorites.

Included in the price of general admission , this special event celebrates  London Town’s heritage as a prominent seaport in colonial Maryland.  Boats will once again ply the South River! Stop by their Carpenter Shop and buy some handmade furniture by Seneca Creek Joinery. Join living history sailors to try your hand at knots and seamanship, learn how sailors lived day to day, and experience the art and science of navigation.

June 15th is the William Paca House and Garden annual Paca Girlfriends Flower Power Party. While the regular tickets have sold out, VIP tickets (starting at $150) are still available and give you early entry into the signature event that focuses on enjoying the English gardens and charm of the Paca House. Enjoy the William Paca Garden on Sunday, June 18th as an artist at the event: Painting in the William Paca Garden( Enter at 3 Martin Street).This event gives you a unique opportunity to paint in the Paca Garden, a secluded reconstructed 18th century garden. Jean Brinton Jaecks, landscape and garden watercolorist, conducts this landscape painting workshop focused on the study of light in a garden setting. All levels of students are welcome. Small class size allows plenty of access to the instructor and a detailed critique at the end. Class meets rain or shine and the cost is $75 and you can register onlineTime: 9 am – 1 pm

Summer Concerts

It’s outdoor summer concert season.  Time to bring your lawn chairs or blankets and relax under summer skies while listening to a variety of music performed by extraordinary musicians.  What better time to pack a picnic and listen to music than Independence Day weekend.  We have a full summer schedule in our forthcoming newsletter and would like to share the dates of what is taking place the first week of July.

To kick off the USNA Band Concert season, head over to Susan Campbell Park in Annapolis  on July 4th at 8:00 p.m. and listen to the Electric Brigade and Ceremonial Band and on Tuesday evening listen to the Crabtown Stompers at 7:30 p.m.

On July 5th, the London Town  Sunday Summer Concert Series begins with Wall & Frye playing from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Annapolis Towne Centre has Friday night concerts from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on July 3rd the USNA Electric Brigade will be performing.

At Annapolis CIty Dock on Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. the season will kick off on July 2nd with Dr. Phil’s Big Band followed by Smooth Velvet on July 9th.

Concerts at Linthicum Park in Linthicum Heights Sundays at 6:00 p.m. will kick off on July 5th with the Benfield Brass Band. At the Glen Burnie Town Center enjoy Pet Rock playing at July 3rd at 7:30 p.m.

Most of these concerts are FREE. So enjoy the music and the arts in Anne Arundel County.
