    Single Carrot has mounted over 50 mainstage productions; organized and hosted countless events; participated in three international collaborations; taught in classrooms, libraries, and community centers all over the city; fostered meaningful partnerships with artists, community organizers, and service organizations across Baltimore; and touched the lives of tens of thousands of people through theatre.

    Single Carrot Theatre is proud to offer a wide variety of theatre learning programs focused on the empowerment and uplifting of communities in Baltimore City and beyond. Drawing on Single Carrot’s grassroots, ensemble-based, & site-specific theatre practices, our learning programs invite collaborators of all experience levels into playful & transformative arts encounters.

    • Story Journeys: Live!

      Description:

      Students explore dynamic and theatrical stories from around the world in this literacy-based, arts-integrated series. Through playful inquiry, students move, sing, dance, and act as they forge personal connections to written texts and step into the role as dramatic co-creators of each story. This program focuses on creative empowerment, collaboration, and SEL skills.

      PreK - 2nd

    • Living Learning

      Description:

      Through process-drama practices, students grades 2-8 explore and apply their classroom studies in ELA, science and social studies in this arts-integrated program. As students improvise, design, and devise original dramatic creations, they develop ownership over their learning in new ways while developing collaborative theatre practices, SEL skills, and their unique artistic voice.

      2nd - 8th

    • Craft Series

      Description:

      Developing craft is the core of this skill-based theatre series. Students focus on learning a particular theatrical practice from working professional teaching artists. Past programs have included physical theatre, theatrical design, devised performance, and acting fundamentals. By the end of the 6-12 week program, students will have a new performance or design skill to add to their artistic toolbox as well as a deeper understanding of how those skills can be utilized in the professional theatre world.

      Appropriate Grade Levels:
      6th - 12th

      Due to the varied nature of this program, there are opportunities for integration with multiple curriculum areas, including visual arts, creative writing, ELA, and social sciences.
