Perfect for 4th and 5th grade in association with studying Maryland History. Running time is 45 minutes, including questions. Size limit is 200 children per program; smaller groups strongly preferred.
This program is thoroughly researched and presented in full colonial dress with authentic instruments including:
Djembe (African drum)
Opening with "Yankee Doodle" and its story, the program includes a guessing game, discussion of gender roles in colonial life and music, the importance of dancing, and, for smaller groups, some hands-on time with the harpsichord and hammered dulcimer. Advance study guide materials provided, as well as links to recordings and educational video.
