• About the Artist:

  Classic Theatre of Maryland is dedicated to the practice of Theatre as an art form. Therefore, our guiding principles must be consistently aesthetic. As artists, we create the theatre that we are individually and personally inspired to make. CTM will engage the best quality and most experienced talent and strive to make each production better than the one before it. It is our responsibility to our artistry and to our audience. At CTM, we remain steadfastly committed to three core values: Artistic Excellence, Artistic Integrity, and Freedom of Expression.

  We believe in a guiding aesthetic authority who governs a rigorous rehearsal process to insure innovation, and respect for text in an unencumbered artistic exploration. Our actors create grounded and authentic characterizations by exercising their gift for transformation. Our designers bring the finest in detailed, dynamic production elements to enhance the pursuit of artistic excellence.

  CTM artists are grateful for the opportunity to manifest their talents in dedicated and unfiltered reimagining of sophisticated texts from the varied genres and cultural traditions of the Western canon. Our actors are encouraged to work outside their comfort zone, seek new skills and a deeper connection to the world of the text. CTM is committed to an open collaboration within each cast, and an abiding truth in the aesthetic authority of the director. Our focus is on plays and musicals which have stood the test of time.

    Description:
    

    Through Classic Theatre of Maryland's Education program, we offer a comprehensive understanding,
    appreciation, and access to timeless dramatic literature that fits into your schools curriculum.

    Workshops and Units at your School
    One Day Workshops for Single / Multiple Classrooms
    Single / Multiple Teacher Workshops on Shakespeare or other Classic Work

    Everyday Two-Three Week Units for 10-15 Classes
    In depth daily analysis of Shakespeare or other Classic Work
    Classic Works include Treasure Island, A Christmas Carol, Pride and Prejudice, The Secret Garden
    Sense and Sensibility, The Glass Menagerie, Our Town, The Works of Edgar Allan Poe, and more.

    Shakespeare Units for Teachers
    Previously taught: Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream,
    Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It, Twelfth Night, and Richard III

    Filmed Classic Theatre Performances used with live monologues / scenes
    Classic Theatre of Maryland's Filmed 2021- 2022 Season includes : Romeo and Juliet,
    A Christmas Carol, Treasure Island, and As You Like It
    *An Hour-Long Cut of CTM's 2021 Romeo and Juliet will be available in the fall

    actors, at an award-winning Annapolis Main Stage? Classic Theatre of Maryland is committed to
    reaching the next generation, introducing them to bold, reimagined interpretations of the
    classics.

    Leaned Ladies : Feb. 17, 24, & March 3 Our Town : April 14, 21, & 28

    Description:
    

    Classic Studio is the Classic Theatre of Maryland's Educational wing. The 2022 Fall Classes include 9 weeks of 9 courses taught by master teachers.

    Classic Studio Fall Semester Classes: Intro to Stage Acting, Intro Acting for
    the Camera, Techniques of Fencing, and Musical Theatre: Owning Your Song
